Leadwerks Software was founded by Josh Klint in 2006, while studying neurology at the University of California at Davis. The company’s first product 3D World Studio has been used by thousands of developers worldwide to create game levels. The next step was to provide an entire development platform. Leadwerks Engine 1 was included with later versions of 3D World Studio. Leadwerks Engine 2 distinguished itself with industry-leading graphics and use in the commercial game Hoodwink. With the third iteration of our technology, simply called "Leadwerks 3", we branched out into multiplatform development with support for mobile devices. A new focus on gameplay and tools has moved us forward, and at the same time reconnected us with our beginnings as a 3D tool provider.
At the core of our philosophy is the belief that capable game development tools can still be intuitive and fun to use.
