Will it be some asset store some day ?

Or does LE3 need to grow lot more for now ?

Would be great :

- Import assets without leaving LE3 editor : As in LE3 format, ready to use

- For people putting quality stuff on the store : 3D models, game kits code, textures it would be some little money back

This is what Josh is building towards with the Steam Workshop. There is already some items that users can download from the Workshop. I believe that the Workshop is going to be user generated content, I'm not sure though if you can buy and sell items on there. I know that the items on there will be user generated though. This can be anything from scripts, code snippets, wav files for soundtracks/sound effects, models/animated characters/props etc.

If you want to see the Workshop do well I suggest making some content to put up on there :)

The Workshop will first be just free content, and later paid items will be added. It's a lot more than just a store. Each Workshop item has a unique global identifier assigned to it. You can install/uninstall any item cleanly and you never have to mess around with the actual files, because the system is built into Leadwerks at a low level. Derivative works are supported, which means items can be used to make other items without ripping the original author off; if one person makes a texture pack, someone else can make a model or prefab using those textures, and the original texture pack will still be required. So instead of worrying about people stealing your work, you actually want people to reuse it to make new things.

You can send a map file to someone, and when they open it, any required Workshop items automatically get downloaded. So it's like a big thumb drive for game assets that we all share. It's actually easier to just publish your assets in the Workshop and have everyone work off of that than it is to pass lots of files around or sync them over SVN or Dropbox. Later on, more advanced privacy options will be added so teams can keep assets to themselves.

Just an idea, but perhaps you might want to add a function that exports a list of all the third party assets used. You know for legal, credits screen etc.

Good. This will make even more sense, the day editor plugins will be possible in LE3.

There is a first step with Sci Fi kit on selling stuff.

Will it be some some day possible for any people to sell things like a real Asset Store after submitting a request for evaluation for example ? With some Steam agreement system with a percentage goging to LE3 and another to the user ?

Or will that stay exclusively for people already selling throught a site like Arteria or Dexsoft for example ?

How about non steam users? Wil we still have the asset store?

Probably not, unless we get to the point where Leadwerks has the money for its own infrastructure and server on the level that Steam has. It's so much easier to just plug into their system. Our DLC sales on Steam are much higher than what we ever made in the paid downloads on our own website.
