My artwork for Phobia - Progress

Made some progress on the art for Phobia. Modelled a metallic bench on wheels for surgical tools, a pillow, and done some changes to the wall textures. I'm really satisfied with how it is turning out.

 

Also modified shad's toon shader, and the result is pretty awesome! tongue.png

The shader is now less cartoony, but enhances the scene in a number of ways! I get a PBR effect, the materials and lighting comes out much better, and it really adds a dirty horror feel to the entire scene. smile.png

 

Working on some surgical tools and other props to spice up the scene.

It may just be me but it's way to glossy, and while it's for a horror game adding a bit of light a bit helps to let people actually see the asserts

Guppy, you're right about the glossiness. I've worked on that, making it less shine. As for adding the bit of light, hmm...it's not easy to find a good balance between too lit, and not lit enough. Too lit takes away the scary feel of not knowing what's lurking in the darkness, and too dark makes the scary things not visible. So yeah, not easy. But, it's being worked on. ;-)

Looks great!

 

Less is more :), subtle use of normal/spec levels can really enhance scenes appearance more than the heaver settings.

 

Keeping a good balance of levels helps when you need to direct attention to something/object such as a hepatitis ridden scalpel as you can bump it's level above the scenes average.

 

Approach it like a photography step wedge, try to create a good balance across the mid spectrum with out blowing out the highs and lows.
