  1. None could stand before the horde but the Doom Slayer. Despair spread before him like a plague, striking fear into the shadow-dwellers, driving them to deeper and darker pits. Yet he still could not fill out his shipping info!!!

      Hi Josh, details updated! Thanks!

  6. 4.5 beta is updated to Visual Studio 2017.

    1. aiaf

Was planning to stick to 4.4 for my game, will gladly do the upgrade now!

  7. Thanks for the 3D logo Ben!

    1. GSFC_1

Any time! I am happy to see another application for Game design come to the forefront of the industry. Besides, leadwerks is a gret product and the community is a great thing to see.

  8. Okay, a page is up for version 5: https://www.leadwerks.com/5

    1. JMK

@martyj I don't think this is possible because every command in the engine would have to be made thread-safe.  All the threads would be locking mutexes pretty much 100% of the time.

    2. martyj

What if Leadwerks used an in-memory database for storing Entity information, that way the render thread could do dirty reads and the update threads could do locking?

Just an idea. Idk the performance of such a thing.

I know me personally, I run a Ryzen 7, so I have a ton of CPU cores doing very little while running my game.

    3. JMK

The rendering thread will have its own simplified copy of all objects, and will not have to worry about crashing into the logic thread.  The rendering threads will use all your cores.

  9. I think I feel a new Kickstarter coming on soon.  I'm pretty stoked about the ideas I have for L5.

  10. Awesome...I found a networking card that works with Linux on my main computer.  Only one mid-tower machine now!

  11. DOOM VFR is the greatest thing I've ever seen.

  12. With the Leadwerks 5 beta we can now simulate ONE CUBIC LIGHT YEAR with sub-millimeter precision.  (Intergalactic scales are not yet supported.)

    1. gamecreator

If it's not difficult to implement, it would make a nice bulletpoint for 5.

    2. JMK

I have a bigger idea I want to implement.

    3. shadmar

Ha! Great, looking forward to this.. on my 1000km planet everything feels like an earthquake now.

  13. I will be at I/ITSEC for a couple days this week.  It's basically the military's version of E3: http://www.iitsec.org/

    1. Charrua

I wrote a letter to Santa for one this Christmas :)

    2. Slastraf

No but my university :) Will use it to make simulations in Leadwerks, if things add up in a few years.

  14. I've got a vehicle now with steering and brakes aligned along the Z axis...

  15. New build available on beta branch.

  16. "The Zone" is coming back remastered as a new DLC.

    1. JMK

@CangoJoe You downloaded these items and they are yours to use under the EULA that was in place when you received them.

    2. Phodex Games

  17. 4.5 beta is patched, please let me know here if you have any problems: https://www.leadwerks.com/community/blogs/entry/2077-45-beta-now-available

    1. Marcousik

Are the vehicles updated in this beta ?

    2. JMK
  18. 4.5 beta compiles on Windows and Linux...5.0 will require a newer version of GCC to build on Linux.

  19. Our Amazon S3 backup is still only 12 GB...small enough to fit on a single Blu-Ray disc.  But it will get much bigger soon!

  20. Don't forget Enshrouded World is live right now on Steam and you should get it.  I am playing it now: http://store.steampowered.com/app/658440/Enshrouded_World/

    1. brndx

I would advise waiting a little longer before progressing too far into it since some major changes are coming soon.

    2. aiaf

Played a bit, drived the hover craft and wonder inside the base.Had to put resolution lower , desktop resolution(1920x1080) was to much for my card GeForce GTX 950M.Loading screen i think are too often but at least are used to tell things about backstory so ok.

  21. Woot, back on my big machine and ready to play through the Halloween games one more time!

Lived in the UK for 5 years. Expensive and very dull, especially the weather. I know for a fact they have a real shortage of all sorts of IT people. The government is pushing hard to increase enrolment in STEM courses but it's not enough. Right now the majority of demand is covered by immigration from Asia. I agree with Josh, moving from US to UK is not a big difference financially, you would ripe more benefits in mainland Europe or Asia.

    2. martyj

I've always been in love with the UK.

Plus the type of labor that I need would be fairly cheap. Like $24k/year.

Also since my game is based upon dwarves, sottish accents are perfect for dialog.

    3. JMK

You can live in eastern Europe for 1/3 the price, and it's actually nicer.  If you sell that house you can basically retire there now.  I've only been in England once, as a tourist, so I don't know much about it.

  22. Back home, but the only internet access I have right now is my phone at 128 kbps. 😩

    1. Olby

What? Do you live in the middle of a desert? :D

    2. JMK

It's that stupid "unlimited data" scam.  If your bitrate gets limited to 128 KBPS then the most you can transfer in a month is about 300 GB, if you leave it running 24/7 (and if it actually works, which it does not).  So it's not unlimited at all!

    3. Angelwolf

Use PDAnet, my friend. On your Android phone and the accompanying windows driver/software, it hides your tethering very well too avoid both limits and throttling. I don't have a phone line and my cell phone data serves me very well.
