    HUD / Radar

This is terrific. Thank you AndyGFX.
  2. If you need to ask then you can't afford it.
  3. Actually this is a good question. How do we decide what polycount is ideal for our games? Do we just try it and see what works? Or is there a systematic method? In my case I'm making my own models for my game, but as I am learning 3D modeling at the same time, my poly counts are high. So it would be nice to know what I should be shooting for.
  4. I love games with sneaking in them.
  5. What part didn't work for you? BTW for anyone who doesn't know it yet, they have some video tutorials here: http://www.youtube.com/user/pureLIGHTTech
  6. Hopefully its Recast with OpenSteer. Unless we put it in first.
  7. I'm not an artist and am fairly new to 3D programing, so I'm still pretty ignorant. So what I want to ask, is what pureLight does for Leadwerks, similar to texture baking as described here? http://www.3dmax-tutorials.com/Rendering_to_Textures.html

    Witch - Hunter

It looks good. If there is a political message hidden in it somewhere, it should be a real corker.
  9. It started working for me without a reboot. I'm guessing it was because it was after 12 AM.
  10. This is exactly what is happening in my case.
  11. I just downloaded and installed it: "Your evaluation trial copy of PureLight has expired."
  12. Creating a system that reliably introduces people with the right skills, interest, experience and money, would probably be a first. By right people, I mean those with money to invest, those with completed design documents, proven programmers, writers, 3D artists, concept artists, etc. I assume someone like that would be similar to an agent, or producer in the entertainment business, or they would be like a matchmaker on one of those internet dating sites. If they were able to get results that got profitable games made and provided employment for the people that work on those games, they'd be worth their weight in gold.
  13. When I've run into problems like that, its because I haven't added the correct version of a dll, or other relevant file to my working directory.
  14. Have a look at this page: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/traj.html
  15. If I am understanding the differences correctly, Naughty Alien's system can also be used in games where a regular grid system is required for every map - I'm thinking of turn based war games.
  16. Rick, The idea with VC, is it is purely to make money quickly, using any means necessary. So if you go to these people, its because you want their money and management expertise, so you/they can sell for a huge profit within 5 years or so. As Josh indicated, if he takes money from these guys, he will be giving them control of his company. That's fine if you are just in it for money, but if you enjoy what you do, then giving it up, is a high price to pay. I have relatives who went down the VC route and while they don't regret it, they are bored to tears now, because they don't have a company to play with. Have a look through the Venture Capital entry at Wiki. The history of it is very interesting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venture_capital
  17. Its a wise decision not to accept venture capital, as they will sell your company out from under you, to make a big profit within their allotted time frame. I've also seen what big money companies did to 3D programs like Hexagon and Bryce, when they took them over and it was very sad. It would be a shame to see the same happen to Leadwerks.

This place really needs a delete post button.
  19. >Details If you mean me, its a secret. I don't want to say anything until I have something to show. I don't want to be one of those vaporware guys...
  20. Interesting. I thought LUA was just bare bones. I've never used it before, outside of following a few LWs tutes. As for C# I like it almost as much as Python, because it has .NET and enforces a few rules to keep me out of trouble. I don't know if it will have the speed to do what I want to do yet, but I guess I'll find that out sometime this year.
  21. If the greedy lawyers come after me, I'll move to New Zealand. New Zealand says no to software patents http://www.itwire.com/it-policy-news/government-tech-policy/40451-new-zealand-says-no-to-software-patents
  22. Python would be fine as a scripting language for programmers, as long as you never intend to give modders access to it because with it, they could do terrible things to a user's machine.
  23. Python really is enjoyable to use. So much so, that it got me over a long episode where I was burned out from programming (C++) for a couple of years. I haven't used Python for game programming though, because I keep reading comments that it is too slow. However people are working on speeding it up: http://psyco.sourceforge.net/
