  1. Hi guys, As you know I've been fiddling around with model creation in Blender to be used in Leadwerks 3, however, I still don't know the best practice to handle lighting in the editor, and since its state is not final yet I'm a bit confused about what will be lightmapped and will be illuminated dynamically. In the following shot, I imported a terrain into Leadwerks, and once I add any kind of lighting I get these overburned spots. Point and spot lights generate a circular spot, and the directional light generates different spots all over the terrain as its rays are casted and intersected with the model. What is, or will be, the best way to light a terrain in Leadwerks? How are we to mix lightmaps + dynamic lighting? Thanks a lot for any info on this regard.
  2. Mom! there's a goblin at our terrain modeled in Blender from a heightmap! Excellent practice! Patience and perseverance shall offer you their fruits soon. I should do the same with like... 24 other programs! lol! Thanks for commenting
  3. Thanks for commenting Mike. For me it was the opposite way; after many years of having bought and working in 3ds max and trying out other programs, once I got the hang of Blender's workflow I never turned back to the others (and never paid Autodesk another yearly upgrade, which was killing me! lol). regards, and I hope these tuts help you integrate Blender in your 3d pipeline better. 5. thanks Cassius, I'm flattered! Check this Blender 2.66a updated shortcut keyboard reference, you can do interactive combinations with shift+ctrl+alt in it: http://waldobronchart.be/blenderkeyboard/
  6. I also just found a nice way to model terrains in blender using heightmaps, so if they can be used in Leadwerks 3 I'll be glad to capture those tuts; one showing the simple way and the other using a heightmap:
  7. Josh, and guys, a quick question. If I create a terrain in Blender, as any other 3d mesh, will it be ok to be used in Leadwerks 3? (I mean collision-wise, optimizations, etc etc). If so, I can capture a quick video tutorial showing how to create a basic terrain (nothing too elaborated, let's say a "cartoony" terrain) in blender:
  8. Cool! It was a nice surprise to see Gmax among your tools! I got very good memories from that package. And yup, I'm sure many things may be easier to create in other programs but I want to cover as much land as possible here, in case a user ever requires such feature. I myself, feel a lot more comfortable working in blender than in any other 3d modeler nowadays, but I also mix working in it with other valuable 3d applications. Thanks for commenting and for following the tuts so far regards, Alvaro

Nice! what is this? It looks like 4drulers' AMP2 engine.
  10. In fact there's one for blender 2.5 that applies to 2.6: http://www.blenderguru.com/wp-content/uploads/Exclusive/Blender_Cheat_Sheet.pdf And funnily enough, they do exactly what you say, print them out and tape them on the wall to consult them! this one should also come in handy: http://www.katsbits.com/files/blender/katsbits-blender-shortcut-chart.pdf
  11. Mom! there's a goblin at our table modeled in Blender!
  12. Thanks guys. Yup, shortcuts in blender are heavily used, but they improve the modeling process a lot. You can still create stuff the usual way, through the menus, but believe me, once you learn the shortcuts your modeling skills and the modeling process will be vastly improved, hence me showing the 2 sides of the coin, but always emphasizing the use of shortcuts. In the next tutorials I'll be modeling stuff without stopping into so much detail, so it's essential you guys know what I'm doing in each step as I mention it. I'm very glad you find the tuts useful, that's the fuel that moves most of us willing to share something. regards, Alvaro
  13. If you're a new user, the android addon is USD$199, if you upgraded from LE2 it will be USD$99
  14. 03 - Viewmodes, views and customizing the UI: have patience my friends! Consider these videos the basic training to use the tool! The fun part is just about to begin! Bwwwaaaahahahahahahahahahahah!
  15. Thanks for the comments guys, they are very motivating! I'm about to upload the second video, and little by little I'll try to make them as leadwerks-specific as possible, making everything practical. I do have a UV mapping video planned aimed at creating props for leadwerks. If you got any suggestions or inquiries with regard to what you'd like to see in blender please feel free to post them here. regards, Alvaro ps. 31% of video02 uploaded!
  16. Cool! I'm glad you like it I'm going to start capturing a series of video tutorials called: "blender for leadwerkers", heheheeh. Let's see how they go. (they'll also be useful for everyone else )
