Blender Animation -> Leadwerks

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just recently bought Leadwerks Engine and am trying to make an animated object in blender and import it into leadwerks (I have no previous experience making animations in blender).

I've gotten the animation working in blender (it's an ankh that bounces up and down and spins around), I used one bone (though I also tried without bones). I can import it into Leadwerks, but the Armature and bone is missing, and there is nothing on the animation tab. It seems to just export it (using the blender -> leadwerks exporter) with the model oriented as it was when I hit export.

I've also tried the fbx exporter but gotten nowhere with that.

I've attached the blender file. Oh and I am using Linux.

Thanks,

Andrew

That isn't the first problem because you would still be able to see the animations in the animation tab without the shaders.

Are you exporting from Blender as .fbx or directly to Leadwerks as .mdl?

Export to fbx from blender, then bring it in to LE works. (I don't have the plugin so I haven't tested)

it says you have it open in another program.

Yes, but I don't. I managed to work around that (it was just for the texture),

I upgraded my blender version, and rearranged my hierarchy and added an amature modifier (i think this did it) and it seems to have exported ok with the animation intact.

I tested and it can't work, as the armature has one bone only, and lamp with camera objects was in keyframe instead of bones.

Make a system that works instead like on picture.

I provided a working Blender working example , it's dirty made and animated, it's purpose is just to show a working system.

Well I don't know how I got the ankh to work then, but it's working.

Now I'm having problems with another model i've made... it has multiple materials, but I also tried it with one material. I tried to make multiple animations, in the end I combined them into one animation, but the same problem persists.. most of the frames are invisible, and some of the frames have parts of the model.

Perhaps LE3 manual should have Blender FBX export settings screenshots and tutorial, because it's borring to repeat it each time.

You are doing it in the wrong way; i exported it directly from Blender and imported it and it was working with no problem.

When you export :

select both model and armature in Blender, choose Export FBX and use these settings (the working MDL is in the zip).

If this is on linux what your seeing is to be expected, the bug will hopefully be fixed in the not too distant future

Are you using Linux or Windows version? I guess the linux version the model previewer is just messed up.

I followed your instructions exactly and got a model that worked, except it was completely black.

I tried to reset the materials (just selecting the same ones again) and saved it, and now I am left with just a leg.

I reimported it, and got a full black model. So I tried setting up the animation sequences, and when I saved it again I just got a leg.

This appears to be a bug with linux? Not seeing an entire animated model, only parts when using the animated shaders.

I also have this issue on linux.

I have found a workaround, that makes all the faces appear,( by searching the animation in the Ladwerks Model editor and finding a frame where all the faces are shown and then saving.)

This is a huge setback in my project. I can't continue if i cant make animations work.
