knocks Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Here's a brief overview of making a tileable normal map with 3d-coats instance feature. Nothing pretty just me working through the process with a basic place holder. Rough sculpt of a single tile, obviously you would make a few variations for production work. Next create 4 instances a set distance apart with a single tile. i layout the tile randomly on my first instance until i have a area big enough to create the normal map and then export it out as a single obj. I then import the mesh into my modeling application so i can bake the normal map onto a single uv mapped polygon placed in the scenes origin the same dimension i originally offset the instances in 3d-coat. Final result once baked ready for use in substance designer. 1 Quote My first Adobe purchase was Photoshop 2.0, CS6 was my last! < = >
