Is developing a 2D game possible?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, I'm looking to create a 2D game, can anyone tell me something material to study? Lua scripts to move, jump, collect items, power bar these things. If anyone could help me I would be very grateful, thank you!

I personally would not recommend Leadwerks, for 2D game development, altough its a cool software. Maybe go for GameMaker Studio, which I tried and can recommend!

I understand, I use Clickteam for some things in 2d, but I would like to use Leadwerks for the ease of importing 3D models into the .FBX form. I still appreciate your response.

I don't think you will find many articles/tutorials specifically for 2d. A 2.5d sidescroller is certainly doable though.

The videos below are a little older and use an FPS perspective but the programming concept remains the same.

For a basic powerbar/healthbar meter

Collecting items. Alternatively you could visit the marble tutorial which also does picking up items.

Very good, I'll download the "http://www.mediafire.com/file/6sxskkdzranqvtb/NewtonTest.zip" and take a look, thanks for the help.

Oftopic, how are you editing your messages? I have to manually horizontal scroll your posts in order to read them. Are you copying them from somewhere?

It looks like he might be putting it into a code tag of some sort.

Sounds good.  It should be a good place to start from.
