xrt Posted Sunday at 04:54 PM Posted Sunday at 04:54 PM Sound Emitters It would be helpful to have dedicated sound emitter entities that can be placed anywhere in the scene. These could be easily referenced in scripts or the flowgraph system, and in many cases this would be faster than relying on ambient sounds added directly to objects. Soundscape System (Valve-Inspired) Adding a soundscape system similar to Valve’s would be a huge benefit. It would allow developers to blend different environmental sounds—such as indoor and outdoor ambience—quickly and dynamically. The system should also support features like range, fade-in, and fade-out controls (similar to Valve’s implementation), making it easier to create smooth, natural audio transitions. Overall, this would streamline audio design and help create richer, more adaptive sound environments. Grouping System A grouping feature would greatly improve workflow. Being able to group multiple objects and manipulate them as a single unit would significantly speed up level design. While saving combined objects as a model is possible, it’s not as flexible. A proper grouping system would still allow selecting and editing individual elements within the group. I’ve also attached a little edited concept image for the sound system idea. 1 Quote
