Transparent textures don't receive light, and cast shadows.

I've been trying to figure out why my transparent textures aren't casting shadows and receiving any light, and just remain fully bright. I tried Shadmars vegetation shader, but it produces ugly textures and still doesn't receive any lighting. Any insight into why this might be happening?

I don't see anything abnormal in that screenshot? If you turn on antialiasing they will look nicer, but I don't see anything wrong with it.

I kinda figured part of it out, the editor wouldnt update the texture correctly so I wouldn't actually know when it was working or not. But now, my problem is that the transparent textures are too dark.

Okay, I see it now. I think we can add this shader as an official one, let me look into it more closely. Your scene looks really nice, BTW.

I seen that shadow "artist" problem on another engine long time ago, shadow beeing too strong.

Perhaps for some future LE3 version adding some parameter in panel for shadow transparency or something more advanced like this :

Two new shaders have been added in the beta branch on Steam:

"Shaders\Models\diffuse+normal+specular+alphamask.shader"

"Shaders\Models\Shadow\shadow+alphamask.shader"

 

These are untested, so opt-in to the beta at your own risk.
