karmacomposer Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Are shaders available for LE3 now? If I import an object or level (in a 3D animation or modelling program), or even create one entirely in LE3's editor, and I want to make the floors, ceilings, etc. shiny or reflective, or add bloom, DOF or other elements to a scene utilizing shaders, can that be done and if so, how? gamecreator Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Awesome!! And please, please, please make it so you can control the amount, i.e.: SetBloom(0.5); For example, the bloom in the above picture is a bit too strong but you may be emphasizing it for effect. Quote
karmacomposer Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 Great. So that would include ANY kind of shader, from post effects to water/ocean and anything else? Josh Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 A lot of effects consist of much more than just a shader. For example, reflective water uses a second render of the scene, and uses two different shaders for above and below the water surface. LE2 had really nice water and a 3rd party solution that kicked butt. Will LE3 get the same treatment? Admin Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 It's early in development to comment on that. The back-end is done, but the front-end typically takes 3-4 times as much work, and we do not yet know exactly what effects we will implement. Quote
DanceTweety Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I hope there will be at least some good ocean water and a Reflect shader for us of cubemaps that you can tell how refletive it should be. Quote
Josh Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 An update is coming tomorrow with support for this in the editor. It's really cool because you can just move effects around in the stack and get totally different looks, This will require you to be on the beta branch in Steam. I do not post updates at the end of the day, in case anything goes wrong and needs my attention. 2 Quote My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without.
