Thirsty Panther Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Would be nice if we had some example particle emitters. Currently we only have the default smoke emitter. The documents on particles is limited. We have "CreatParticleEmitter" with a code example to give us the default smoke emitter. The only other documented feature is "SetParticleVelocity" which leads to a 404 for both Lua and C++. Since Particles are being promoted as a feature of LW5 with real-time editing, emission volume shapes, animation sheets and velocity based directional particles, it would be helpful to give an example of these. 4 1 Quote
reepblue Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Like I said on a workshop meeting, I like to take an existing particle effect and use it as a starting point for my own effect. Having a library of effects would be very helpful. 2 Quote Cyclone - Ultra Game System - Component Preprocessor - Tex2TGA - Darkness Awaits Template (Leadwerks) If you like my work, consider supporting me on Patreon!
mdgunn Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I was building a set for Leadwerks quite some time ago. Mostly as a fun personal project. Can't really promise anything but might eventually get round to redoing for Ultra/LW5 and possibly releasing it. Not so great static but from roughly left to right the effects are bubbles, waterfall, snow, hyno rays, lit fuse, smoke, glow beams, rain, fire and teleporter. I assume ultra particles are capable of the same thing but I don't think I tried them yet. Quote
mdgunn Posted May 10 Posted May 10 ....or someone releases some better ones ! Mine are pretty basic. Quote
Thirsty Panther Posted May 10 Author Posted May 10 These are good and I had no problems making similar in LW4, but I've spent hours trying to make similar in LW5 but without success. That's why I asked for some examples. 2 Quote
mdgunn Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Ah right. I think I had not tried because I wasn't sure if it was a final thorough implementation. Thanks for the info that it may be a bit different and not necessarily a simple reapplying of settings. 1 Quote
mdgunn Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Had a go at trying to reproduce some of the LW 4 particle examples I'd done earlier. Did take me quite some time to get understand the interplay which happens between some of the settings but it seemed possible to get something usable. Would need to push things a bit further in a real setting I think to see if any limitations are problematic and if I could get something a bit better. Logged what seems(to me) to be a bug in the labelling of Radius settings. ( Quote
