vitus in steam

I just got a message from my virus checker ( bitdefender) saying a virus in steam has been deleted. Now I find leadwerks will not run.

Should I reinstall?

mhm i geht now this error in steam and leadwerks will not run.. i dont know if bitdefender deleted a file?

for 2 days everythins funktion fine

I just performed a full scan of my entire hard drive with Malwarebytes and everything is fine.

the virus was located in steam,steamapps/leadwerks/gamelauncher

I uninstalled leadwerks and now I find that steam cannot reinstall it with the error " missing fileprivilages"

looks like I'm stumped unless you know a way.

You probably can't reinstall it because bitdefender is blocking the file so you can not do anything to it, unless you tell bitdefender to unblock it. See https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/2121/ for how to unblock it.

Yeah it looks like bitdefender is finding stuff that may not be a virus.

I will reinstall steam hit exclude in bitdefender then see how we go.

my Kaspersky doesnt find any virus in steam or leadwerks so might be a false positive.

g-data is picking up a virus say it Gen.Variant.Graftor.458183 in the Leadwerks.dll

so a few antivirus are start to have the same code base picking up this false bit of code in my case i just say move back and dont touch

I can't figure why bitdefender has lived with leadwerks for so long without problems yet suddenly there is a problem.

It seems incredibly unlikely since that file gets compiled by MSVC and then copied to the upload folder. There's probably a virus that uses a common library. Did you submit the DLL to the antivirus maker?

No. My son arrived and used an on demand virus checker which found nothing.  He knows more than I do about this subject and thinks there is nothing to worry about.

Edit: The on demand virus checker is called Housecall.
