Fraps is ok but free version only run for 1 minute.

I use CamStudio and it is 100% free. Tho it is pretty crappy. But I haven't found a better free one yet.

I always found CamStudio to be very slow. I've always had the best results with FRAPS, it seems to be the only one made to capture at a fast rate.

I have both fraps and camtasia. for tutorials, camtasia is okay. But when you want to record with high quality, fraps is the answer.

FRAPS is way better than Camstudio no doubt. It is made for this kinda thing. I would highly recommend getting it. I highly recommend myself to get it when Im not buying model packs n such hehe.

Recent update from Camtasia allows better ingam capturing. Its support has increased and I have to say that it works quite well. Maybe not as well as fraps but good enough.
